The Lewiston J.C. Penney store – one of the region’s oldest retail outlets will close permanently.
The LC Valley store closure is one of 154 that were announced Thursday on the J.C. Penney website. The national retailer is consolidating its brick-and-mortar footprint in the aftermath of filing for bankruptcy protection last month.
The Lewiston store has been closed since mid-March in efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The J.C. Penney closure in the LC Valley is the latest in a string of retailers closing.
Macy’s, Shopko and Kmart have closed their Lewiston locations. Tri-State Outfitters shut down its valley store, and Bi-Mart closed it’s Clarkston location two years ago.
Additionally, Pier 1 is in the process of closing its Lewiston location. (Lewiston Tribune)
