City of Lewiston settles with former library employee

The city of Lewiston’s insurance carrier has settled a lawsuit brought by former Library Director Alexis Eccles and her husband.

The suit was filed against the city, the Library Board, and certain city and board employees and officials. The amount of the settlement is $200,000, plus reasonable costs and attorney fees, all of which will be paid by the city’s insurance company. The amount of costs and attorney fees is yet to be determined.

Officials say the city did not admit wrongdoing and the insurance carrier agreed to the settlement to avoid the cost, risk, and disruption of protracted litigation. (City of Lewiston)
