Idaho’s unemployment claims jumped by a staggering 1,200 percent amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Idaho workers laid off due to the COVID-19 outbreak filed 13,341 new claims for unemployment insurance benefits during the week of March 15th-21st, up 12,310 for a 1,200 percent increase over the previous week.

The Idaho Department of Labor says affected workers can apply for unemployment benefits by visiting the agency’s website at labor.idaho.gov.

Officials add that displaced workers should put together the last two years of their work history beforehand to help speed up the process. (Idaho Department of Labor)
