Asotin County cancels fair, rodeo over COVID-19 concerns

Officials have canceled the Asotin County Fair and Hells Canyon Rodeo scheduled for April due to the coronavirus pandemic. County commissioners on Monday canceled the April events following an emergency declaration from Washington Governor Jay Inslee that limits events to less than 50 people, though that number could go as low as 10 as the virus guidelines change. The fair board will meet with the county’s legal counsel to figure out how to return sponsorship money and cancel contracts with entertainers, stock providers, and the carnival company. Fair board members and 4-H supporters say the livestock committee is working on solutions to help kids sell their animals and make enough money to pay their feed bills.  (Lewiston Tribune)
