The Lewis-Clark State College basketball teams quests for national titles are over as the NAIA has canceled winter championship events, including those that are currently underway, in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The collegiate athletic organization says the health and safety of the student-athletes, as well as all involved in the championship events, is the NAIA’s highest priority.

The cancellations include the men’s basketball national tournament in Kansas City, Missouri, and the women’s tournament in Billings, Montana. Both LCSC teams were scheduled to open play in their respective tournaments next Thursday.

The NAIA will continue to monitor COVID-19 developments and leadership will work closely with member institutions to determine the best path forward for future events, which would include all spring 2020 championships, such as the Avista NAIA World Series in Lewiston. (NAIA)
