Southeastern Washington health officials say a Garfield County resident in under home quarantine as a precaution after having direct contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus. According to the Garfield County Health District, a Columbia County resident over the age of 60 tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, after contracting the illness while traveling overseas.  The person hasn’t visited any retail locations or community events since their return and is recovering at home.  The only direct contact was with the Garfield County resident, who was promptly placed under 14-day home quarantine for public health monitoring.  They also have had no visits to retail locations or community events, and health officials stress the threat to the community is low.  The health district recommends all people living in Garfield County and elsewhere to continue everyday precautions to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19 and influenza.
