Providence upsets LC women in Frontier Tourney championship

The Providence women’s basketball team upset Lewis-Clark State in the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship game 69-66 Tuesday night at the LC Activity Center.

Junior guard Emily Maldonado scored 17 points and dished out 7 assists and senior forward Bailey Cartwright had a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds in leading the 5th seed Argonauts to the win and an automatic berth into next week’s NAIA Division I Women’s National Basketball Tournament.

Warrior junior guard Jansen Edmiston led all scorers with 21 points in the loss.

LC drops to 21-10 overall and is expected to receive an at-large berth into the national tournament based on their ranking.

Both Warrior teams will find out their seeds and opening round opponents late Wednesday afternoon.
