A new trial date has been set for an Asotin County judge facing rape and assault charges. The case of Scott Gallina had been postponed to allow for more defense preparation on charges of second-degree rape, indecent liberties, and fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation based on allegations of workplace sexual misconduct. The alleged crimes reportedly took place in the last two years, involving two women who worked with Gallina at the Asotin County Courthouse. The 56-year-old Gallina has pleaded not guilty and has been on paid leave from his duties as Superior Court judge in Asotin, Garfield and Columbia counties since his arrest last April. A jury trial was set for March with Spokane County Judge Michael Price presiding. However, Price granted the defense’s request to push back the start date so additional witnesses can be interviewed. The trial is now scheduled to begin May 4th. Gallina didn’t seek a change of venue, opting to hold the proceedings in Asotin County. (Lewiston Morning Tribune)
