Orofino, Grangeville airports get combined $619,000 from U.S. Transportation Dept. grants

Airports in Orofino and Grangeville have been awarded a combined 619-thousand dollars from the U.S. Department of Transportation, part of 5-point-2 million dollars in airport safety and infrastructure grants are given to 13 airports in Idaho. The funding is part of a 520 million dollar national investment in America’s airports was announced by Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. The Orofino Municipal Airport will receive 319-thousand dollars to fund the building and extending a safety area and remove obstructions, while 300-thousand dollars has been earmarked for the Idaho County Airport to fund sealing the runway, taxiway, and taxi lane pavement surface and joints.  (U.S. Department of Transportation)
