LC athletes claim weekly conference awards

Lewis-Clark State’s Jamie Nielson has been named the Frontier Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The senior guard from Smithfield, Utah scored a career-high 35 points on Thursday against Providence, the most by any Warrior woman this season. Her total ranks 11th all-time in the LC State Women’s Basketball record books. She followed up that stellar performance with a 21-point night in the win over MSU-Northern on Saturday.

The Warrior basketball teams travel to Butte Thursday for Frontier Conference games with Montana Tech.

 

A.J. Davis

Meanwhile, LC’s A.J. Davis has been the named the Cascade Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

The junior from Clarkston, Washington helped lead the 19th ranked Warriors to a 3-game sweep over Concordia in Portland last weekend. Davis hit .571 in the series. The shortstop went 4-for-5 with the game-winning RBI in game two, and knocked in three in the series finale. Davis leads the Warriors in batting average at .364, and hits with 12 so far this season.

The Warriors open the home portion of their schedule this weekend when they host the University of British Columbia in a four-game Cascade Conference series at Harris Field.
