An Orofino woman will stand trial later this year for her involvement in a 2017 murder. 37-year-old Cassie Madsen on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to charges of aiding and abetting in Clearwater County District Court. Prosecutors say Madsen drove Jennifer Colpitts to the home of Samantha Fignani in May 2017, where Colpitts fatally shot Fignani with a shotgun. Madsen says she drove Colpitts back to her home and then returned to her own residence. About a day later Madsen came forward to cooperate with investigators. A jury trial date has been set for June 8th. Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Colpitts was convicted of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison with a fixed term of 18 years.
