Reclaim Idaho has kicked off its “20 Days of Action” statewide tour to promote its Invest in Idaho education initiative.

The grass-roots organization responsible for getting Medicaid Expansion on the ballot is turning its attention to Idaho’s education crisis.

More than three-dozen volunteers turned out in Boise Sunday afternoon to get involved with the ballot initiative that would provide up to $200-million a year for Idaho public schools. The money would go into a dedicated fund for – among other things – competitive teacher pay, career-technical education, full-day kindergarten, and hiring new support staff.

Reclaim Idaho Co-Founder Luke Mayville hopes the initiative will help lessen schools’ need for levies that end up on property tax bills each year.

The group has stops planned for more than a dozen towns and cities over the next month, including Lewiston and Moscow.

Volunteers must collect more than 55,000 signatures statewide in order to get the measure on the November 2020 ballot. (Reclaim Idaho)
