Lewis-Clark State’s Cole Olsen and Emily Adams opened the 2020 indoor track and field season with standout performances at the Vandal Open on Saturday, and both earned Frontier Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors. Both had strong cross country seasons and have carried that momentum onto the track.

Cole Olsen

Olsen qualified for indoor nationals in the 3000m run in his first race of the season. The junior finished second in the field of mostly NCAA Division I runners with a time of 8:36.92. He holds the fourth fastest time in the NAIA this season.

Emily Adams

Adams was just shy of the qualifying mark when she placed sixth in the 3000m on Saturday. The junior clocked a personal-record time of 10:39.37 in the pack of 23.

The Warriors are back in action on Jan. 23 when they head back to Moscow for the Idaho Open.  (KOZE Sports)
