A former Idaho County Sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sex crimes against a minor.

34-year-old Nicholas Harris was sentenced to 15 years with 10 fixed and five indeterminate. The court also ordered him to pay court costs as well as a $5,000 civil fine to the victim.

In September, Harris pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor after admitting to sexually abusing an underage girl in December of 2018. Harris was initially accused of two additional counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16 for alleged crimes that also took place in Idaho County. He admitted he committed various acts of sexual abuse against the same child in two states over four years.

The two counts of lewd conduct were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. As part of his sentencing, Harris will also be required to register as a sex offender.

While Harris is a former Idaho County Sheriff’s deputy, he had been most recently living in California. (Lewiston Tribune)
