Idaho’s unemployment rate holds at 2.9 percent in October

Idaho’s unemployment rate remained at 2-point-9 percent in October for the fourth consecutive month.

An additional 2,400 people made themselves available for work last month, pushing Idaho’s seasonally adjusted labor force past 884,000. Idaho’s labor force participation rate of people age 16 years or older working or looking for work held steady at 64 percent.

Idaho nonfarm jobs fell by 4-tenths of a percent from September to October.

Eight of Idaho’s 11 industry sectors did not meet seasonal expectations. Information; and trade, transportation, and utilities gained a combined 500 jobs, while natural resources remained unchanged.

October’s unemployment rate for Nez Perce County was 2.7 percent; Idaho County 4.3 percent; Latah County 2.7 percent; Lewis County 5.5 percent; and Clearwater County 6.6 percent. (Idaho Department of Labor)
