Avista Utilities is warning customers of a scam currently be perpetrated in the region.
Officials say the scammers are targeting all utility customers – residential and commercial. The scam includes materials with duplicate Avista logos and contact information. Customers may be threatened with immediate service disconnection.
Scammers may also request payment via prepaid cash cards, and some customers have reported being confronted at their doorsteps for payment of past due bills or entry into homes.
Avista officials say if something sounds odd, it probably is.
