Equipment delays postpone paid parking at Lewiston airport

Equipment delays have postponed the start of paid parking at the Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport for a couple weeks.

The program was to begin this week, but was pushed back to November 1st because of the delayed delivery of equipment to track how long vehicles are in the facility’s lot.

Under the plan adopted by the airport authority board, airport users will be charged $5 per car per day for the first 10 days. The daily amount drops to $4 for the second 10 days and $3 after that.  Payments will be made with credit cards at kiosks inside the terminal. While receipts will be issued, vehicle owners will not be required to put them in their cars because the system will track who has paid electronically.

Airport employees are exempt from parking fees, as they will be issued passes allowing them to park in designated areas. Start-up costs total some $25,000, and the airport anticipates the project to bring in $125,000 to $150,000 in annual revenue. (Lewiston Tribune)
