Avista reaches settlement to slightly lower Idaho electric service rates

Avista electric customers in Idaho could see their bills slightly drop under a rate case settlement the utility reached with stakeholders.

If approved by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission, the settlement would cut annually billed electric revenues by $7.1 million, or 2.8 percent. That translates to an average electric customer using 900 kilowatt hours a month paying 86 cents – or 1 percent – less on their bill.

Avista, which serves 133,000 customers in Idaho, indicated the rate settlement supports its efforts to maintain and invest in infrastructure while continuing to earn a fair return in the Gem State.

The Idaho Conservation League, which was involved in the rate case negotiations, voiced support for the settlement, a part which has Avista funding a new $1.6 million program for energy savings projects in northern Idaho. (Spokesman-Review)
