Idaho Governor Brad Little says his recently completed diplomatic mission to Europe opened new doors to international economic ties and strengthened existing ones.

Little, First Lady Teresa Little, and other Idaho officials concluded their six-day trip Friday to strengthen Gem State ties with the Basque Country, the Netherlands, and Ireland. Idaho Department of Commerce Director Tom Kealey, Department of Agriculture Director Celia Gould, and their staff joined the Littles on the diplomatic mission.

Governor Little says the economies in the destinations share Idaho’s long history in agriculture, especially in the production of dairy, beef, potatoes, and onions. The Idaho delegation visited with Basque technology companies in the areas of energy research and agricultural innovation.

The trip to the Netherlands had the governor meet with the executive team at cold storage company NewCold about their experience growing their second U.S. location in Burley, while Little also met with another company operating in Idaho that develops storage and processing solutions for agricultural products.

In Dublin, Governor Little met with 12 Irish companies looking to expand in the U.S., and a stop in Kilkenny included a tour of the headquarters of Glanbia, Idaho’s largest dairy processor, to discuss the investments the company has made in the Gem State. (Idaho Gov. Brad Little)
