An Orofino woman will spend at least 18 years in prison for the murder of another woman two years ago.
34-year-old Jessica Colpitts was sentenced in 2nd District Court Tuesday to life in prison with 18 years fixed for the May 2017 shooting death of Samantha Fignani.
Colpitts was convicted of first-degree murder in March for driving to Fignani’s home and shooting her with a shotgun at the door. Colpitts was allegedly upset over Fignani’s relationship with Colpitts’ estranged boyfriend.
The fixed sentence means Colpitts will not be eligible for parole for 18 years. She was also ordered to pay Fignani’s mother $5,000 in annual restitution and more than $13,000 to the Idaho Crime Victims Compensation Fund. (Lewiston Tribune)
