A motorcyclist was killed and another man was injured Tuesday in a multiple vehicle accident along Highway 12 near Kamiah.
According to the Idaho State Police, 22-year-old Wayne Hodges of Orofino was eastbound in a 2001 Acura CL just after 3 PM when he crossed left of center, colliding head-on with a 2011 Harley Davidson tricycle driven by 76-year-old Joe Armstrong of Oregon. A pickup pulling a utility trailer crashed into stationary farm equipment off the side of the road to avoid the initial collision.
Armstrong, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hodges was taken by ambulance to Clearwater Valley Hospital, then transported by air ambulance to Kootenai Health – he was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.
The highway was closed for about 3-and-a-half hours and the accident remains under investigation. (Idaho State Police)
