Idaho’s June unemployment rate unchanged at 2.8 percent

Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 2.8 percent in June, the 19th consecutive month at or below 3 percent.

An additional 2,100 people made themselves available for work between May and June, pushing Idaho’s labor force up to 873,600, while the state’s labor force participation rate – those working or looking for work – increased slightly to 64 percent.

Idaho nonfarm jobs remained essentially unchanged from May to June, up 200 for a monthly total of 754,900.

Professional and business services; financial activities; leisure and hospitality; education and health services; and manufacturing all showed monthly industry job gains. The natural resources sector saw no change to employment levels, meeting seasonal expectations, while employment levels in the remaining five industry sectors shed jobs.

June’s unemployment rate for Nez Perce County was 2.7 percent; Latah County 2.5 percent; Lewis County 4.7 percent; Idaho County 4.7 percent; and Clearwater County 7 percent. (Idaho Department of Labor)
