Authorities continue to search for a 35-year-old man who is believed to have drowned in the Salmon River about 15 miles east of Riggins.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office says the man reportedly jumped into the river Saturday to help rescue three children and at least one adult who had been in a canoe that overturned near the Twin Beaches campground.
The children had life jackets on and made it to shore, along with the adult and one other man who had tried to rescue the children.
The now-missing man was pulled under the current, and there were no signs of him during searches Saturday and Sunday. (Lewiston Tribune)
