Tuition hikes approved at four-year institutions

The Idaho State Board of Education has approved tuition and fee increases at the state’s public colleges and universities. 

With a 5-3 vote, the divided board approved the requests as presented by each higher education institution. 

Lewis-Clark State College full-time resident undergraduate students will pay 5.5 percent more, or $364, for a total cost of $6,982, while there will be a 5.3 percent increase of $18 to $356 per credit hour for part-time students. Non-resident undergraduate tuition for full-time students at Lewis-Clark State will increase 3 percent, or $378, to $19,978. 

University of Idaho in-state undergraduate students will see an increase of 5.6 percent. For full-time students, that’ll be $440 more in tuition and fees, for a total cost of $8,304, while part-time students will pay $22 more, for a cost of $415, per credit hour.  Non-resident students at the UofI will see a 9.1 percent increase. Full-time students will pay $1,600 more in tuition and fees for a total of $27,540. 

Boise State University undergraduate students will see an increase of 4.9 percent; while Idaho State University full-time in-state undergrads will pay 6.1 percent more. (AP, Lewiston Tribune)
