Asotin County’s controlled burning season is open as of Monday and runs through the end of May.

Limited burning of yard waste is permitted in unincorporated areas from 9 AM to 4 PM, and those wishing to take advantage should call for daily burning conditions at (509) 243-2002.

Burning of leaves, lawn clippings, garbage, pallets and building materials is not allowed under the ordinance. A detailed list of restrictions is available at the Courthouse Annex in Asotin or the Asotin County Fire District station on Appleside Boulevard in the Clarkston Heights.

A free yard waste disposal program is available at the Asotin County Regional Landfill. (Lewiston Tribune)
