Three men are in custody for attempting to pass counterfeit lottery tickets at several local business.

Lewiston Police say over $800 was fraudulently obtained by cashing the fake tickets.

On Monday an employee provided a vehicle description and license plate information which led LPD to stopping a 2018 rental car in the 500 block of D Street. The ensuing investigation led to the arrest of Lucas Chane of Spokane, 35-year-old Rodney Olson of Post Falls and 33-year-old John Day also of Spokane.

A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle which produced computer equipment, paper, and a printer used to manufacture the counterfeit lottery tickets. Over 40 fake tickets were seized from the vehicle in addition to drug paraphernalia.

All three men were taken into custody for felony possession of counterfeit or altered state lottery tickets and are being held in the Nez Perce County Jail.

The Idaho State Lottery Commission is assisting in the investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.  (Lewiston Police)
