The Seattle Mariners stadium will now be known as T-Mobile Park. On Wednesday, the Mariners and the Bellevue, Washington-based telecommunications giant announced a 25-year naming-rights agreement.
T-Mobile will reportedly pay the Mariners $87.5 million for the naming rights, an annual average of $3.5 million.
It’s the first time since its construction in 1998 and opening in 1999 that the baseball stadium will be called something other than Safeco Field.
The naming-rights agreement with Safeco ended after last season when the insurance company elected not to renew its contract with the M’s. (Seattle Times)
