Idaho’s ACT scores among high school graduates were virtually unchanged from 2017.

The Gem State’s average score on the college readiness test was 22.3 of a possible 36 – the same as a year ago – and good enough for 19th best nationally.

The Iowa City-Iowa based ACT also released benchmark scores for the test’s four sections, showing what percentage of Idaho students hit the marks for college readiness. English was unchanged at 73 percent, as was Reading at 58 percent. While Science climbed from 45 to 46 percent, Math dipped a percentage point to 49 percent.

The national average score was 20.8, though officials point out that the Idaho numbers are difficult to measure on that scale as only 36 percent of Idaho’s high school graduates took the college-placement exam, compared to 55 percent nationally. (IdahoEdNews.org)
