Hundreds of people in the Orofino, Greer, Weippe and Pierce areas will be affected by a planned power outage by Avista utilities Sunday.
Approximately 750 Avista and 660 Clearwater Power customers in those areas will be without power Sunday from 7am to 3pm as crews perform upgrades to transmission infrastructure.
Similar to an outage in August, crews will be utilizing a helicopter to transport power poles to remote locations. Traffic control will be in place along U.S. Highway 12 and State Highway 11. Highway 12 north of Greer will be controlled to single lane traffic, and motorists near the top of the Fraser Grade could be delayed near the helicopter landing zone.
