Clarkston teens who vandalized ballfields ordered to pay $39,000 in restitution

Three juveniles have been ordered to pay nearly $40,000 in restitution for vandalizing a baseball field in the Clarkston Heights last November.

The Clarkston boys drove a vehicle in circles in muddy sod at the Field of Dreams baseball complex on Sixth Avenue, and two athletic fields owned by the Clarkston School District also were damaged. Earlier this year in Asotin County Superior Court, the teens were given deferred sentences on three counts of first-degree malicious mischief and taking a motor vehicle without permission.

A $6,800 credit from donations toward repairing the fields was subtracted from the total restitution, leaving each boy to cover some $13,000. Should the boys be unable to pay the full amounts, the court can allow community service in lieu of monetary payments. (Lewiston Tribune)
