The political action committee of Idaho’s statewide teachers union has endorsed Cindy Wilson in the race for Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction.

The Idaho Education Association called Wilson “a highly respected educator, and IEA President Kari Overall said the union and professional educators across the state are excited about the experience and enthusiasm she brings to the table.” Wilson retired from teaching at the end of the 2017-18 school year after 33 years in education in Orofino, Pierce, Shelley, Meridian, and Boise. Wilson faces Republican incumbent Sherri Ybarra in the November 6thh general election.

Ybarra has held the post since 2015. She previously worked as a teacher, building principal and, most recently, a federal programs director in the Mountain Home School District. (IdahoEdNews)
