An 18-year-old Kooskia man was killed Thursday in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 12.

The Idaho State Police say the accident near milepost 61 caused the death of Michael Routh, who was a passenger in a 2001 Ford Explorer driven by 73-year-old Madelon Caren, of Kooskia.

The Explorer collided head-on with a 2001 Dodge Durango driven by 28-year-old Maria Workman, of Kamiah.

Both Caren and Workman were taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood, and Workman was later airlifted to Spokane. Neither Routh nor Caren were wearing seatbelts, while Workman was wearing hers.

The accident remains under investigation. (ISP)
