The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation advisory for residents of Pollock and the Whitewater Wilderness neighborhood because of the nearby Rattlesnake Creek Fire.

The “Be Set” advisory is the middle notification for the three-level evacuation advisory system that ranges from “Ready” to “Go”. The “Be Set” notifications means residents are recommended to evacuate or at least be prepared to leave their homes at a moment’s notice.

There are multiple aviation, engine, and ground resources on scene with additional resources en route, including a Type 2 Incident Management Team. The fire grew to some 2,100 acres after being reported Monday afternoon.

Traffic control measures are in place by the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office along the highway for public and firefighter safety. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible, and travelers may experience limited visibility due to smoke in the canyon corridor. (Lewiston Tribune)
