NAIA World Series begins Friday

The 2018 Avista NAIA World Series gets underway Friday at Lewiston’s Harris Field, inside Ed Cheff Stadium on the Lewis-Clark State College campus.

The tournament gets underway at 8:30am when 8 seed Antelope Valley of California meets 9 seed Reinhardt of Georgia. At 11:30am 4 seed Oklahoma City plays 5 seed Southeastern of Florida. 7 seed Freed-Hardeman of Tennessee meets 10 seed Northwestern Ohio at 3pm.

Following opening ceremonies at 6:30pm, 6 seed Lewis-Clark State will play 3 seed St. Thomas of Florida in a rematch of the 2015 national championship game. The 3-time defending national champion Warriors enter the series with a record of 38-11, while the Bobcats are 56-7.

LC will be playing with 7 starters that have limited or no world series experience. Warrior head coach Jeremiah Robbins says while that is a concern, the players that have competed in the past series have stepped up to help guide the newbies.
