Washington State University has increased undergraduate in-state tuition for the 2018-19 school year.

The university Board of Regents on Friday hiked tuition by 2 percent, from $9,530, to $9,720. Resident and non-resident doctor of pharmacy students can also expect a $2,000 increase in tuition, with hikes for resident students in the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, and both resident and nonresident students in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The regents also passed WSU’s proposed 2019-21 operating and capital budget requests, the latter of which includes $174.7 million in new projects. Some of those projects include phase two of construction on a $36 million Global Animal Health Building, and more than $10 million towards design and construction of a Pullman life-physical sciences building.

The operating budget request also includes $14 million for medical education at the Floyd College, as the college increases from 60 to 80 students; $39 million  for faculty, staff and graduate student salaries; and $2 million for maintenance and operations of new buildings.

The budget requests will be submitted to the Washington Legislature. (Moscow-Pullman Daily News)
