Fire heavily damaged a home in the Clarkston Heights Tuesday morning. Authorities say the two occupants of the home in the 1,300 block of Perry Lane escaped after being alerted by a neighbor, with one of the occupants taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fire crews from Asotin County Fire District, Clarkston Fire Department and Lewiston Fire Department responded to the scene at 9:30 AM.

Officials say it took about 30 minutes to control the blaze, and firefighters were on scene for an additional 90 minutes to fully extinguish the fire, which destroyed the carport, the kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom.

The cause of the fire appears to have been a heat lamp or electrical in nature in the carport area. (Lewiston Tribune)
