FAA approves Pullman airport improvement plan

Federal officials have green-lighted plans to construct a new terminal and terminal apron at the Pullman-Moscow regional Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration has accepted the facility’s four-year Capital Improvement Plan, and is budgeting $22 million to help with construction. Design of the building would begin in 2020 and construction of the terminal a year later, followed by the apron in 2022.

The FAA funding requires a local match, similar to the airport’s current runway realignment project. The local match is just over 8 percent, or about $1.94 million, though not all items are eligible for federal funding. Most public areas qualify, but there are exceptions to areas behind airline and car rental counters, as well as any administrative office space.

Airport officials are also working on raising money for items that are not eligible for federal funding, including some $1.5 million for a new parking lot. (LMT)
