A Kooskia man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing a car accident that killed a Kamiah woman last year.

26-year-old David Mcintyre was sentenced in 2nd District Court Monday to five years fixed and five years indeterminate for the October 2016 accident.

Investigators say Mcintyre was suicidal when his car crossed the center line on U.S. Highway 12 and struck head-on a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Eleanor Chandler.  Mcintyre’s vehicle then spun around and hit another car.  Chandler died at the scene while Mcintyre and the two occupants of the third vehicle were injured.

Mcintyre pleaded guilty to a charge of vehicular manslaughter as part of a plea agreement.  The judge retained jurisdiction in the case for a year, after which he will review the sentence. (Lewiston Tribune)
