In the Lewiston City Council race, two incumbents held on to their seats and will be joined by two newcomers.

Incumbent Mike Collins led the crowded field, followed by Kathy Schroeder and John Pernsteiner.  Incumbent Bob Blakey narrowly edged Kevin Kelly by 18 votes for the last of four open seats.  The remaining candidates on the slate were Kimberly Tolson, followed by Steve Lear, Greg Follett, and Steve Martin.

63 percent of Lewiston voters shot down a measure to raise the city’s Avista franchise fee from 1 to 3 percent.  The fee hike would have increased funding for city street and sidewalk construction.

In other Nez Perce County contested races, incumbent Lapwai Mayor Iona “Ruth” McConville bested former Mayor Ricky Hernandez, while in Culdesac, incumbent LaVonne Davis joined James Johnson to best John Blosser for two open seats on the city council.

Nez Perce County voter turnout rate came in just under 22 percent.  (Lewiston Tribune)
