21 Idaho organizations and businesses are heading to Asia on a trade mission later this week.

The nine-day trip, which includes stops in Taiwan and Vietnam, begins Friday and is coordinated by the Idaho departments of Agriculture and Commerce.

Idaho House Speaker Scott Bedke will lead the trade mission, with representatives from several industry sectors, including potatoes, wheat, beef, defense and fire safety equipment, aerospace solutions, and medical and communications equipment.   Meetings will take place in Taipei, Taiwan; and in Ho Chi Min City and Hanoi Vietnam.

Taiwan is the third largest overall export destination for Idaho, and exports to that country grew by 20 percent last year.

Vietnam has shown strong GDP growth and Idaho exports there grew 55 percent from 2015 to 2016.  (Idaho Department of Commerce)
