Idaho unemployment rate dropped to a record low 2-point-8 percent in September.

The rate is the lowest recorded by the state, dating to January 1976.

According to the Idaho Department of Labor, last month saw a robust increase in the number of Idahoans working and a continued drop in the number of unemployed.  Total employment grew by 4,100 in September, the largest monthly increase since July 1993, driving the total number of people with jobs to over 800,000.

Employers in five of the state’s 11 industry sectors increased their payrolls in September, led by education and health services.

Construction jobs decreased, while the natural resources sector met seasonal expectations with no net gain or loss.

In September, unemployment in Nez Perce County was 2.5 percent; Latah County 2.4 percent; Clearwater County 5.6 percent; Lewis County 5.3 percent; and Idaho County 4.3 percent.  (Idaho Department of Labor)
