Authorities say a Kamiah man has been hospitalized after spending two days trapped in his vehicle after it plunged into a ravine.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Jacob Phillips appeared to have a broken leg when rescuers pulled from the car Sunday morning and flew him to a hospital in Lewiston.

Authorities say Phillips left work in Grangeville on Friday afternoon, and family members reported him missing later that day when he didn’t arrive home.

Searches along several possible routes failed to locate Phillips, and wireless communications provider Inland Cellular narrowed the search area by pinging Phillips’ cellphone.  Searchers then located Phillips about 75 feet down a ravine off State Highway 162.

Philips was treated at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and transferred to a hospital in Spokane. (AP)
