Idaho’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell in August to its lowest level in 10 years, matching the state’s record low of 2.9 percent in June 2007.

August’s one tenth-of-a-percent decline was the sixth consecutive monthly decrease in the jobless rate and is a result of the first substantial increase to Idaho’s labor force since February.

Eight of the state’s 11 industry sectors showed gains, led by trade, transportation, and utilities, and other services.  Twenty of Idaho’s 44 counties had unemployment rates at or above the state rate in August, led by Clearwater County’s 5.8 percent.

Nez Perce County was 2.4 percent; Latah County 2.3 percent; Lewis County 5.1percent; and Idaho County 4.3 percent. (Idaho Department of Labor)
