There’s a chance Idahoans could see the Northern Lights this week. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the celestial storm will be visible farther south than normal thanks to a disruption to the Earth’s magnetosphere.
That disruption sends the electrons in the atmosphere into overdrive, causing them to emit photons that we see as light – also known as the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights.
NOAA has issued a moderate geomagnetic storm watch Wednesday through Saturday. (Idaho Statesman)
