The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has approved the nomination of Idaho legislator Bart Davis to be the state’s new U.S. Attorney.

Davis was among a half-dozen U.S. Attorney nominees to clear the committee at its meeting Thursday.

Idaho Senator Mike Crapo’s Office says Davis’ nomination has been sent to the floor, but no schedule has been announced.

The 62-year-old Davis is currently the Idaho Senate’s majority leader and an Idaho Falls attorney.  He was nominated by President Donald Trump in June, with strong support from Crapo and fellow U.S. Senator Jim Risch.  He would replace former U.S. Attorney for Idaho Wendy Olson, an Obama appointee who stepped down in February to make way for a Trump choice.
