AAA predicts a busy Labor Day Weekend for travelers

Despite higher gasoline prices and an already busy travel season, the American Automobile Association expects more than 35 million people will travel across the country.

Matthew Conde with the Idaho Chapter of AAA says the travel trend that began with the Memorial Day holiday will likely continue this weekend.

Many travelers are concerned over the effects Hurricane Harvey may have on gasoline prices.  But Conde says any impact from the hurricane on gas prices in Idaho won’t really be known for several weeks.

Idaho drivers are paying on average, about 30 cents more per gallon for gas than a year ago and prices could reach as high as $2.85 per gallon by the end of the holiday weekend.

Still, prices are considerably lower than they were from 2011 to 2014 when gas prices ranged from $3.69 to $3.78 per gallon.  (KOZE News, AAA)
