Crews battled two wildfires that started Sunday afternoon in Pomeroy.

Washington state assistance was needed to fight the so-called Hill Fire Complex, made of the blazes that started on a hill off of Columbia Street, and the other off of Knotgrass Road.  The 28-acre Hill Fire threatened about 20 homes, while the fire near Knotgrass is at about 150 acres.

No injuries had been reported from either fire.

Two wildland strike teams were called into the area, and State Fire Marshal personnel responded to the scene.   (Lewiston Tribune)
