The Idaho Oil and Gas Conservation Commission on Thursday chose its chairman during the commission’s first meeting since being restructured earlier this year.

Kevin Dickey of Emmett is a Gem County landowner with more than 30 years of oil and gas operations experience. He most recently worked for Boise-based Petroglyph Energy, and holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

The commission also selected Payette County Commissioner Marc Shigeta as vice chairman.  Other commissioners include Idaho Department of Lands Director Tom Schultz, Doctor Renee Breedlovestrout of Moscow, and James Classen of Boise.

Thursday’s meeting was the first since Legislation was signed into law earlier this year, establishing a five-member commission made up of the IDL director, a county commissioner from a county producing oil and gas, and three subject-matter experts with college degrees in geosciences or engineering and at least ten years of experience in the oil and gas industry.  (Idaho Department of Lands)
