Public advisories have been removed from Clarkston’s Chestnut Beach, after conditions improved to again allow swimming in the shoreline Snake River.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, laboratory results received Wednesday from water samples taken Monday showed no indication of high levels of fecal bacteria in the river water.

The public was advised earlier this month to not swim or play in the beach water after routine weekly testing results showed elevated levels of contamination, likely developing because of waterfowl feces, combined with recent higher seasonal temperatures. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, LMT)
