The University of Idaho has been awarded a 250-thousand dollar federal grant to be used in the construction of its new sports and event center in Moscow.

As part of a national movement to expand use of wood products in construction, the U.S. Forest Service awarded the Wood Innovation Grant to help kick into high gear the construction of the 4,700-seat Idaho Arena, which will be home to Vandal basketball and volleyball.

Meanwhile, a Portland, Oregon-based firm was recently selected as the architect for the $30 million project to build the facility on the north side of the Kibbie Dome.
